Abstract

Abstract: Parish - parish church - patrocinium - rectory. These have been traditional terms in the vocabulary of the faithful for centuries, as well as in canon law. In connection with the far-reaching reorganisation of territorial pastoral care in the German dioceses, which encompasses all areas of church work, questions of canon law arise, not all of which seem at first glance to be clearly and unambiguously regulated by universal canon law. Neither the Codex Iuris Canonici nor the Parish Instruction of 2021 provide clear answers to every legal question regarding the legal situation and its interpretation. Nevertheless, questions of detail are often of considerable importance because they will have a great influence on practical pastoral care in the future reorganised pastoral structures. This article aims to provide answers as to how the terms addressed can be interpreted in conformity with the law and what consequences
